It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alison Liu, 32, after a long battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home in Vancouver on Friday April 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family
Alison is survived by her husband Steven, her parents Stephen and Bess, her brother Nicholas, and her extended family and friends
Born in Vancouver, Alison attended York House School, Queen’s University, and BCIT, eventually working at St. Paul’s Hospital in Nuclear Medicine. She participated in a number of extra curriculars through her school years, like cosplaying, competing in a national improv competition, and helping lead the Queen’s University archery club where she met her husband
Throughout her life she maintained a passion for science, a love of the arts, and a widely appreciated talent for baking. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, enjoyed board and video games, and was always happy to poke fun at bad TV shows with her friends
Alison was a wonderful person; consistently kind, clever, funny, loving, and supportive. She will be fondly remembered for all the warmth and joy she brought into our lives. Though she is gone far too soon, we were lucky to have known her
Alison was, and will always be, loved
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the incredible staff at the BMT department of VGH for their efforts and compassion, as well as to all of Alison’s friends and family for all of the love and laughter they brought into her life
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or similar local organizations to help fund research. Donating blood or joining the stem cell registry with the Canadian Blood Services is another great way to honour Alison’s memory by helping those currently undergoing treatment
We’d like to ask anyone with photos of Alison that they’d be willing to share to please contact us
