Catherine Margaret Grant, 57, passed away peacefully on March 6. Cathy was surrounded by family members and close friends. Cathy struggled for years with MS and in the last few years battled cancer.
Cathy was born in Halifax on Sept. 15, 1958. Cathy had unconquerable streaks of independence, adventure and fun. She worked aboard a fishing boat for several years, took a leap of faith to test skydiving.
Cathy’s treasures were her friends and the great times they enjoyed together especially at the Legion on Commercial Dr. Her Nova Scotia roots and family were always close to her heart. Over the last few years her dearest friends Barb Jackson, Anna Vincelli, Steve Campbell and Linda Furlong did all they could to make Cathy comfortable and give her the best possible quality of life.
Cathy leaves behind all of her friends, brother Rick (Peggy), sister Mary Herod (Barry), nieces Erine Grant, Meghan Grant and Kate Morrison and nephew Joe Grant, step niece Jaime Lavers as well as grand nieces and nephews. Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Alexander (Alex) and Mary (Rankin), brothers Alexander (Sandy), Michael and Paul.
Thank you to the staff of the Royal Ascot Care Centre especially those on the third floor and thanks to the staff at the BC Cancer Agency, particularly Dr. Jennifer Davies.
You are missed by all, Cathy.

You Will Be Missed
Saying goodbye
Is the hardest thing to do
I never thought I would
Especially not to you.
You always listened
And knew what to say
Knew when to give a hug
When I was having a bad day.
No one will ever take your place
I can always promise you this
It’s hard to find someone like you
So know you’ll always be missed
Those special memories of you
Will always bring a smile
If only we could have you back
For just a little while
Then we could sit and talk again
Just like we use to do
You always meant so very much
And always will do too
The fact that you’re no longer here
Will always cause us pain
But you’re forever in our hearts
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
Did I ever tell you?
How important you made me feel
For all the times you make me smile,
You were a friend that was truly real!
For all the time that you spent
Showing just how much you cared
There are no words to thank you!
For always being there.
I pray that God will bless you
With peace and joy that never parts
May all the love you gave away
Return to fill your heart!

It was very nice to see the video that was put together for my aunt Cathy for her celebration of life. Would have loved to meet all of those who were close to her out west. She was a amazing person and will dearly be missed by all. Thank you to her friends who were there for her during her battle and to all those that were that during her last days. Thank you to you all.
We will miss her so but I’m happy to know she isn’t in pain anymore and is with my dad , her brothers mom and dad.
