Our hearts are filled with sadness, love and beautiful memories as we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Vernon Hunter on August 27th after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in the quiet town of Lucknow, Ontario, Bob always had much bigger plans for himself. He was a creative visionary and a natural-born entrepreneur. From scratch, he built a successful career in construction and real estate development residing in the USA, Saudi Arabia and England before returning to Canada in the early 80s (Oakville). He retired/relocated to Vancouver with his wife and youngest daughter in 2002. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, skier and sailor. He had a keen eye and a passion for architecture and interior design.
He is fondly remembered by his beloved wife Karleen, three daughters: Lisa (Javier), Charlotte (Rathan) and Taylor (Dylan), three grandchildren: Vera, Ambar and Kiran, sister Joanne (Forbes), brother Murray (Patricia) and sister-in-law, Sandy. Predeceased by parents Vernon Hunter and Anna May Treleaven, and brother Gregory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s honour to Vancouver Hospice Society and InspireHealth.

My wife Kirsten and I met Bob and Karleen through mutual friends. We discovered that we lived a block from each other. They invited us for dinner one night and we had a lovely evening sitting outside on their deck socializing with another couple we met that night. I think they thought the mix would be nice and it was. Kind and warm people both of them. I bumped into Bob often in the neighbourhood and he always had a smile and time for a chat. He will be missed, our thoughts are with Karleen and family.
