Malcolm Howard Barnes
October 19, 1943 Montreal – October 23, 2017 Vancouver
So now my time has come and it’s my turn to say goodbye. You will need to find a new jokester! I write this with Mary (my loving wife of 41 years) at my side. It was, needless to say, a shock to discover that my lungs and liver were failing me, but I thank all who stood by to care for me during this time, especially Dr. Dana Haaf.
Although Mary and I had no children of our own (just our 2 beautiful 4-legged babies) we are fortunate in having incredible friends and 10 wonderful nieces and nephews between us, from my two elder sisters, Barbara (George) and Nancy – now deceased), brother-in-law Kurt and Mary’s brother Michael and cousin Sally. We are proud to be Graunties and Gruncles to their children. Sadly for us, all living in various parts of Canada, California, and the UK.
No memorial service is being planned at this time. Donations in Malcolm’s name would be very much appreciated by the North Shore Cardiac Rehab Society with whom Malcolm put years of his energy into its early formation and participation; the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 114 Poppy Fund Trust; and The Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
Rest in peace my darling – we love you.
